lg nexus 5 2015

Before devices are made public for customers to drool over and buy, case makers are the first to get upcoming devices' dimensions and thier schematics. This of course is to help build accessories such as cases that can be instantly available as the device releases. For this reason, when supplying information to other companies can sometimes cause a spillage of info that shouldn't be privy to the public.Sometimes a case company can reveal their "upcoming" case for a new phone that isn't out yet! These so called leaks causes all types of hype, such as the upcoming Nexus devices.
For now, the LG Nexus 5 2015 edition has not been confirmed by Google or LG. All we can go from is the stories and information that social media provieds. The image above shows a speculation of the upcoming device. However, don't be fooled, this is not the actual phone itself but renderings which are based off the dimensions given to case manufacturers. With these renders we can infer the shape and size of the phone, the placement of speakers e.g. front grills, a fingerprint sensor, camera size and location and flash location. Other things can include the headphone jack, SIM tray location, (secondary) mics, and the possibility of a USB Type-C port.
For now we have only these renders to look at. And the video down below. Until the end of this year, I don't see much else other then a leak of the actual phone itself.

Do you remember the era of flip phones? Ah the Motorola Razr and its glorious reign.

There were hardware buttons and no touch screens to accidently break or damage. It would stay charged for days on end, sometimes a whole week! Now all we we have are big slabs for phone.

Designer Martin Hajek went full nostalgia to infuse the past with the present to present a flip iPhone from the past and future.
He said he took his inspiration from the popularity of large flip phones that are apparently called "garakei," in Japan. Martin Hajek named this concept the GarekeiPhone. Not really the best name but it works!

The render above shows a iPhone with another flip screen on top . The flip cover is held in place via a hinge which includes a glowing Apple logo. The flip part of the screen is not touchscreen but for viewing purposes only! The lower half is touchscreen though.

HTC is planning to cut 15% of their workforce

03:37 0 Comments A+ a-

HTC announced yesterday to it's investors that it aims to cut their operating costs by 35% in order to become a leaner and more nimble organisation.

What does this mean? HTC intends to make 15% of its employees redundant, which totals to a few thousand jobs (no exact figure given). HTC is not doing great in terms of profit and so laying off workers is a way to reduce the damage from financial losses.

Here is a quote from the CEO of HTC herself: .
Now, as we diversify beyond smartphones, we need a flexible and dynamic organization to ensure we can take advantage of all of the exciting opportunities in the connected lifestyle space. This strategic realignment of our business will ensure that each product group has the right focus, the right resources and the right expertise to win new markets.”

Samsung reveals keyboard cover for Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+

03:31 0 Comments A+ a-

Samsung's newest idea was shown off yesterday at their unpacked event showcasing their new phones. However, many were not expecting this newly announced keyboard cover for the Galaxy S6 Edge+ and Note 5 to be actually real. This device is crazy wierd and not pretty at all. Samsung said that it's a case that has a snap-on physical keyboard that would interact with the screen's lower half.

The back part of the keyboard cover looks like a normal case you could buy, but the main difference is that there are two small notches where the keyboard section clips on when you need it. It seems to be like a modular accessory. Looking at this product, it is safe to assume that it won't require some sort of power source to make it work as all it does is push touch sensitive buttons onto a screen, but we don't know for sure.
cover
The keyboard cover was created with Samsungs own virtual keyboard app in mind, which presumes you will have to use that keyboard to make this accessory work. When attached the home button will somehow recognise the keyboard cover is on and changes the current UI into a special input mode. It will also move the UI above the keyboard.

The accessory will retail at around $60-80 when it supposedly launches in a few weeks. It is expected that a smaller version of this will be coming for the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge as well. However, I don't see this being too popular, unless your up for some Blackberry nostalgia.

Qualcomm Says First Snapdragon 820 and Adreno 530 And 510 GPU's Devices Will Arrive In 2016

07:55 0 Comments A+ a-

Qualcomm's new GPU for android, the Adreno 530 and 510 will not be available for commercial phones until next year.Qualcomm claims of up to 40% increase in graphic performance and up to 40% decrease in power requirements.

The newer, improved and faster Adreno 530 GPU powering the upcoming Snapdragon 820 mobile chipset was unveiled at SIGGRAPH 2015 this week. The company also confirmed that
devices with the 820 chipset will be available beginning in the first half of 2016. This confirms that the new nexus devices expected this fall will not be running this new chip unless they release them next year, which is unlikely.

The new Adreno 530 was described with a short presentation whilst keeping the 820 chipset as a whole ambiguous. As said earlier in the article, the most impressive improvements was a 40% increase in speed in comparison to the Adreno 430 and a 40% decrease in power consumption which should definitly improve batter. Of course, these do not show real word improvements or tests which will have to be tested. They claim that some are likely due to the all-new GPU power manager but most of the improvements come from the smaller FinFET process being used on the 820 chipset.

Qualcomm claims the most up to date Adreno is a noteworthy update contrasted with the 400 arrangement chips, with upgrades in all cases shown on the presentation and also how the GPU has a greater capacity to work with the CPU in more significant ways. The capacity of the new Spectra picture signal processor (just in the Adreno 530) and related programming advances were a key point amid Qualcomm's presentation, with the organization asserting various upgrades to picture preparing over different fronts.

Upgraded noise reduction prepared for the most up to date era of versatile picture sensors (which the 820 can bolster at up to 25MP or double 13MP sensors at the same time), "crisscross" feature HDR catch support, more smart remedy of lens and sensor abnormalities, and expanded self-adjust execution are every single potential advantage. Should telephone OEMs decide to exploit them, obviously.

The Adreno 530 suppoerts all of the follwing standards: Miracast 4K30, HDMI 2.0 at 4K60, the new Vulkan graphics API slated for support in Android, OpenGL ES 3.1, and Open CL 2.0.

Finally, people who use Twitter's messaging service will pleasantly find out that your direct messages are (from today) no longer have a limit of 140 characters.
Twitter announced this change today and that the modification will begin to both Android and iOS respectively (no Windows Phone).
We first heard about it quite a while ago, which was announced by Twitter themselves. In June Twitter said the limit would increase from 140 characters to 10,000, so not necessarily unlimited
However, the usual Tweets will unfortunately continue to have a 140 character limit. The changes will also not affect direct messages sent via SMS.
The rollout for this change starts today, but it will not come into affect worldwide for another few weeks.

9to5Mac obtained images of what appears to be the iPhone 6s

Apple is expected to be hosting its usual annual event on September 9th. This event usually partakes focus on Apple's next iPhones.

According to a Buzzfeed source, Wednesday September 9 is seen as the most likely day for the company to release an update on the new iPhone(s).

Force Touch as seen on the 2015 Mac will apparently be on the new iPhone 6S. We should see shortcuts and faster actions across iOS via multitasking. According to 9to5Mac, it was designed in mind to "skip existing lists of options or button presses." which makes the feature different to the one found on the Apple Watch

One example provided was someone looking up a location on Maps and then using Force Touch to begin turn by turn directions instantly. In another example, the person Force Touching a webpage link in Safari bought up a preview of it or a definition of a word.

This is exciting news and something that should be seen as an 'innovative' feature on Apple's behalf. Now the wait until September

Pushbullet Update Supports End-To-End Encryption

07:08 0 Comments A+ a-

You can't deny that Pushbullet is ultimately useful, and it gets more therefore bearing in mind than each update. However, Pushbullet does see a lot of your data in plain text, and there's been growing demand for improved security. As of today, Pushbullet supports decline-to-fade away encryption for SMS, notification mirroring, and universal copy-epoxy resin.

In a recent conversation upon Reddit, Pushbullet's lead developer dug into the matter back users. Pushbullet has always used https to safe relatives, but the Pushbullet servers yet see all your data in plain text. So why the dependence for encryption? If you'concerning the paranoid sort, you might make miserable that a malicious individual could profit right of entry to the servers, or totaling him/herself along along in addition to Pushbullet and your devices. Hey, if we'on making happening hypotheticals, Pushbullet might furthermore expose itself to be a lid for Hydra at some mitigation in the far and wide along and activate using all your data for world domination.

Of course, these things are not particularly likely, but now you can guard yourself by entering your selected password for subside-to-fall encryption in the settings (it's AES-256). Do that, and your data will be encrypted to the front it leaves your device and won't be decrypted until it reaches option device related to your account. Additionally, the key derived from your password is never sent to the server. That means the lonely situation Pushbullet (or anyone listening in) will see is encrypted data.

End-to-fall encryption will be alive today for Pushbullet upon Android, Chrome, and Windows (the update should be out soon, if not already). The iOS update is pending and the Mac app will be finished soon. The Opera and Firefox extensions will be rolled out back Chrome is avowed to be on the go properly.

Galaxy S6 Edge+ leaks

05:24 0 Comments A+ a-

Samsung seems to have affirmed, likely unintentionally, that the up and coming Galaxy Note 5 will, without a doubt, be joined by a new curvy model. The organization's French site has a pre-order landing page for the Galaxy S6 Edge+ which has since been taken down. It's presented with a Level Bluetooth headset in a package that will be available to pre-order between August 21st and September 3rd. It infers that the S6 Edge+ may release to the market on September 4th. Be that as it may, the dates could apply entirely to the package, and not the telephone itself.

Be cautious however, the dates do line up nearly with prior gossipy tidbits about the Galaxy Note 5 - as indicated by WSJ. Samsung is supposedly releasing it it in front of Apple's iPhone 6S's release as competition. The photograph on the page appears to show an identical phone to the normal Galaxy S6 Edge.

Other than that, there's not a great deal of data about the gadget. It's supposed to be around 5.5-inches and have the same specifications and much likes its smaller brother, a bended screen. We will find out sooner than later, as Samsung has announced an Unpacked Event on August 13th. Stay tuned!

Alcatel reveals 4.7 inch variant of the OneTouch Idol 3

12:06 0 Comments A+ a-

The Alcatel OneTouch Idol 3 has been a prominent mid-extent telephone since it turned out a couple of months prior, and now the organization is following through on its guarantee to offer a littler adaptation also. The 4.7-inch Idol 3 doesn't have the same specs as its greater sibling, but at the same time it's much less expensive. You can lift one up from Alcatel's site this Friday as well.

Here are the specs:
  • Display: 4.7" HD (1280x720) TFT-IPS, (312ppi)
  • SoC: Qualcomm Snapdragon 410
  • Internal Memory: 1.5GB RAM + 16GB ROM
  • Expandable Memory: Yes microSD (up to 32 GB)
  • OS: Android Lollipop 5.0.2
  • Camera: 13MP Main Camera w/ Autofocus + 5MP FF
  • Battery: 2000mAh
  • Dimensions: 134.6 x 65.9 x 7.55mm
  • Weight: 110g (3.88oz)
  • Wireless: GSM 850/900/1800/1900, UMTS/HSPA+ B1/2/4/5, LTE B2/4/5/7/12/17

The progression down to 720p at 4.7-inches is a worthy trade off, yet individuals will presumably be less comprehension of the move to 1.5GB of RAM. There's still 16GB of capacity in addition to a microSD card, however. The Snapdragon 615 has been supplanted with a 410, which is most likely fine. That chip can be pretty much as quick by and by with legitimate programming advancement.

The Idol 3 4.7 has fundamentally the same configuration contrasted with the 5.5-inch variation including the front-confronting speakers and downplayed feel. This telephone will in any case dispatch with Android 5.0.2, however. No word on a 5.1 (or M) redesign yet.

The littler Idol 3 is going discounted through Alcatel's Amazon-controlled store this Friday, August 14th for $179.99 (the 5.5 is $250). That is the same as the low-end Moto G, which just has 1GB of RAM and 8GB of capacity. It's an aggressive cost. Note: Alcatel says the telephone is turning out this Friday, however it does seem to be in stock at this moment at the connection underneath. No guarantees, yet give it a shot.

OnePlus delays OnePlus 2 by 2-3 weeks

12:01 0 Comments A+ a-

The OnePlus 2 declaration hasn't gone especially easily for the Chinese organization because of a modest bunch of missing components, yet OnePlus has still figured out how to pull in a colossal number of individuals to the welcome holding up rundown. Presently there will be somewhat more holding up totally isolate from the welcomes. OnePlus has declared by means of its gatherings that North American shipments of the OnePlus 2 are deferred by 2-3 weeks.

The OnePlus 2 is situated to go marked down to those with welcomes tomorrow (August eleventh), and the organization will at present cheerfully take your cash in North America. On the other hand, the telephone won't ship to the US and Canada until generation makes up for lost time. OnePlus shipments to different locales are evidently unaffected.

The obscure course of events most likely gives OnePlus a touch of squirm space to change the last ship date as required. On one hand, it's pleasant that OnePlus is telling individuals about the postponement, yet on the other, one day prior to the deal date is really an abrupt announcement. Ideally purchasers in any event get something more solid as we get closer. It's difficult to focus on purchasing a telephone without knowing when it's going to deliver.

New Cortana Update Allows Android Users To Replace Google Now

04:26 0 Comments A+ a-

2015-08-10 00.30.52

Microsoft launched its Cortana virtual assistant (based on the character from the halo series) on the Android platform with many of the features you could find on the Windows phone and 10. In the latest beta, version 1.0.0.204, you can swap the Google Now shortcut to use it to launch Cortana instead. This can be done by holding on the home button in Lollipop.

This won't entirely replace Google Now as a whole such as voice search on the play store but this step will allow Microsoft to attract new users to use Cortana. On the downside Cortana still can't be accessed by “Hey, Cortana” as you can in Windows. Microsoft replied saying that this is due to "hardware limitations" not software limitations.

If you are currently using the beta available on the Google Play, check for an update to gain this feature. What if you are not part of the beta program? Click here to learn more on how to join.

NVIDIA extends Shield users free GRID game streaming until September!

11:50 0 Comments A+ a-

Nvidia GRID game streamingNVIDIA’s has made the claim of streaming console-like quality games to the NVIDIA SHIELD series. The NVIDIA GRID service had been announced from the start of 2013. Currently it has been in beta and is still only available to those who choose to buy a SHIELD device.
Myself and many others have been use the streaming service for a couple years for free. Even though we have been expecting an update on the service since May, we still have not got any word of the current status. Today, NVIDIA updated its site to let we Shield users know that we can continue to use the GRID streaming service free of charge until September 2015! Hooray!
This happy news can only be due to another delay with the streaming service which can be seen as good or bad news I suppose. If we see a release this year, it will bring about a subscription-based model. It will be much like Netflix etc. but for gaming and the option to completely buy the game as well.
In case you do not know already, the streaming service is excellent at... streaming games, if you have a decent internet connection.
One month to go! I can only hope they don't delay again and wait a little more!

Sandisk is now allowing pre-orders for their 128gb microSD Card!

 sandisk-ultra-1

There’s lots of microSD greeting cards out there, but Sandisk takes the place for the very best bargain in terms of delivering both equally top quality along with price.
The corporation not long ago released it's new Extra small microSD cards, and they're prices have been rather attractive
However I am more pumped up about a brand new 128 GB storage space selection that's available for pre-order. sandisk ultra 128 GB microSD for only $59. 99! That's amazingly cheap for how much storage space you receive. The only problem is that it won't deliver until June twentieth. In spite, this really is certainly one of the better deals if you'd like a good amount of storage space along with a small form factor. These kinds of storage cards can also be plenty fast, featuring UHS-1/class 10 data transfer rates, so you won’t possibly be being concerned in relation to lagging along with slow write speeds. When you absolutely need over 128 GB, there is the brand new 200 GB version, but is particularly costly at $249. 99.
In addition, there more compact storage space selections include: 8 GB, of 16GB, 32 GB along with 64GB designs. These kinds of will set you back $6.51, $9. 99, $14.99 and $24. 99 as a result. Those are some terrific deals! Mind you, the actual 128 GB version can be the only be pre-ordered; all other cards are available to purchase
